TEXTILE & EMBROIDERY ART - CLASS #4

The sun was shining brightly - so Jane decided that we do Heliography. Huh? What's that?  Sun painting! Time is of the essence, she said. And she came with a handful of ferns, leaves & grass.

The set up of the first half of the class - out in the parking lot. Thankfully, on Sundays there are very few cars.

THE RESULT, is a mix of heliography styles -

Kak Siti's - large overlapping leaves gives depth to this piece .

Eva's piece. I just love how the color merges into each other.
MinHui's flow of hearts - leaves left some nice trace of shades of colour.

And Zarina's. The leaves were not fully weighed down so we don't see the full ferns.
While waiting for the fabric to dry under the hot sun, we brought the class outside :)

It was a very hot day but we enjoyed it nevertheless.

We reviewed the past lessons and completed our colour study module. We also were given our next task - a class project - to make an embroidery painting of a photo or picture of our choice, using the techniques and tips we learned. That should be fun!

Next, back inside - where we made samplers of stitches that can be used to fill up a space. These should come in handy for our new project.

So engrossed, we worked past the alloted hours.

Our next class is on 18 Sept, 2011, due to the long Hai Raya, Merdeka and Mooncake Festival celebrations.

So, from all of us :
SELAMAT HARI MERDEKA & HARI RAYA AIDIL FITRI!
and have a joyous MOONCAKE FESTIVALcelebration :)
and HAPPY MALAYSIA DAY !
